Smoke Alarm Saturday

On Saturday June 28th, 10 PFRA members teamed up with 10 Plano Firefighters from E3, M3, & E11, and together we went door to door testing and installing smoke alarms in some neighborhoods near 18th & Shiloh road.  PFD will provide, free of charge, at least one new smoke alarm and/or batteries for exisitng alarms upon residents' request.  Contact Lt. Peggy Harrell for more information on the smoke alarm program at 972-941-7421.

  • Randall Rasor (FRS Allan Rasor, Administration).  Randy will attend SMU pursuing MBA and Law degrees.

date we have awarded 23 scholarships totaling $13,500 including $4,000 from this year alone.  Thank you to all of the scholarship applicants, and to our Scholarship Committee (Dan Burke, Bill Fell, Marcia Hurst, John Mouser, and Yvette Mouser) who had a very difficult time chosing these recipients from the numerous applications.

If you or your business would like to donate to or sponsor a future PFRA Scholarship Award, please contact our President or Treasurer.

Picnic Feedback
Did you attend the PFD Appreciation picnic on Saturday?  We hope you had fun!   Please email the PFRA Picnic Committee your comments and suggestions on things you liked, didn't like, and what activities will bring you back next year.

A Big THANK YOU to our 2008 PFD Picnic Sponsors!

Please see the complete list on our Sponsors page

Your Grocery Card Benefits PFRA
Kroger and Tom Thumb allow you to link your grocery "reward" card to a non-profit organization, and PFRA has qualified to be a recipient for both programs. To get started, click one of the icons below and print out their forms.

At Kroger, scan your Kroger Plus Card, then ask the cashier to scan this form once, and from then on, PFRA will be linked to your Plus Card until May 2009 (renew by rescanning). For Tom Thumb, complete the form one time and take it to their Customer Service Counter and they will link it to your Tom Thumb Rewards Card.  These cards are not restricted, so you can pass out this information to family and friends.   For each purchase you make at Kroger or Tom Thumb and use this program, these grocers will donate 1% of your total purchase amount to PFRA.  All funds collected are used in our support of PFD.

2008 Station of the Month Sponsors
PFRA wishes to thank these gracious sponsors of our SOTM activities:

Please visit them this week and say "Thanks" for supporting PFRA and the Plano Fire Fighters!

Farewell Shuttle-1
After 10 great years of service, the PFRA Paramedic Shuttle program was officially retired on Tuesday April 15th after a continual decline in it's demand for service.  You can read more about the Shuttle and the reasons we had to make the difficult decision to retire the program here.  But stay tuned!  We have some new, exciting programs that involve our engagement with FD personnel coming soon.

Construction Begins on Station 12

Hire an off-duty firefighter for your next job!

Many Plano firefighters own and run their own business on their days off.  Why hire a questionable contractor for services like A/C& Heater repair, Landscape & Mowing, Plumbing, Welding, Painting, when you can hire a trustworthy firefigher instead?  Visit http://www.odff.com and enter your zip code to find a list of firefighter-owned businesses near you!

PFRA Merchandise
If you are in need of a PFRA shirt, hat, patch or jacket please fill out an order form and contact John Mouser.
